This beautiful gallery opened its doors in 2012 and has since been a centre of education for the entire community but for kids in particular with its Artists for Kids and Winter After School programs. centennialIt is so amazing that the Lonsdale area has such a lively and diverse arts scene. Just the Centennial Theatre alone has an almost daily line up of events planned for the next year. Amongst many, many shows there is the Banff Mountain Film Festival, ballet, stand-up comedy, many, many concerts and even a tribute to Elvis.

Music

There are plays, festivals and free concerts on the Shipbuilders’ Stage in Shipbuilders’ Square at the foot of Lonsdale. Most of them take place during the summer months and can accommodate 800-1000 people.

Municipal Support For the Arts

nvacenterThe North Vancouver Arts Office, located on the third floor of the library building in Lynn Valley Village, is a bi-municipal agency of the City and District of North Vancouver that supports and promotes arts and cultural activities on the North Shore. The Arts Office oversees grants programs, offers workshops, provides local arts groups with networking and promotional opportunities, and manages the Public Art program for the City and District of North Vancouver.
